Today I woke up feeling as good as I have in a while. I packed up my stuff which included about 12 days of food rations and went to a restaurant to have a big meal. Afterwards I went to my hot chocolate spot, scheduled two more posts, and hastily made my way to the bus station. I wanted to pick up some tortillas and some meat for my first few days but I was short on time and decided to skip it. There is always the option of buying food in the park despite the extortionary prices I have been warned about.
After about a 2hr bus ride I arrived at the park. I paid my fees and I attempted to settle my trip with a park ranger. Unfortunately the campsite I wanted was not available for two more nights. That meant I would stay at the lower Torres campsite by the hotel the first night and would then try to book the next night a little further up in the Chileno campsite. As I hiked toward my first campsite, I saw my first view of the torres peeking through the clouds.
After about an hour and a half hike I arrived at the hotel torres camp site. There was a hefty fee for the campsite. In actuality this campsite is more expensive than some hostels in town. This is something that makes my budget super sad 🙁 Usually I save a ton when I am camping but not this time.
I settled into camp, made my dinner, and set my alarm for 7 in the morning. I set it that early because when I inquired about the Chileno campsite I was asked to come back early in the morning since the campsite fills up quickly. We will see what results I get in the morning.
