The third and last day of the Amboro national park hike would be shorter. We would depart after lunch so our hike would only last a few hours in the morning. I thought I would show a little more of the campgrounds so that you have an idea what the place looks like. It’s very basic but enough to get the job done.
La Chonta Campgrounds
Now that I’ve given you the tour of the grounds onto the nature shots.
On one of the larger river banks we saw a bunch of different butterflies that were catching some sun. Many flew away when I approched but the ones below were the most cooperative.
Here is my favorite encounter from the park. Sure the monkeys were cool but I have seen those before. What I have not seen is a ball of caterpillars in this fashion. The cluster moved as a group, almost as if it were one organism. It was a little creepy but amazing to see nonetheless.
Once we were done with our morning hike we headed back to camp and to pick up our stuff and then made the small hike out to the road where our vehicle was waiting for us. Just like at the beginning of the hike, we saw some Macaws. A nice closing to a to the trip.
